Support
Bloom plays the movies, shows and live TV from your own Jellyfin server on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV.
Contact us: support@bloomcinema.app. We usually reply within two business days. Please include your device, its iOS or tvOS version, your Jellyfin server version and what happened.
What you need
- A Jellyfin server, version 10.11 or later. Jellyfin is free software you run on your own computer or NAS. Get it at jellyfin.org.
- An account on that server. You sign in with your username and password, or with Quick Connect if your server has it turned on (Jellyfin: Dashboard › General › Quick Connect).
- Optional: a tuner or IPTV source on the server for Live TV, and a requests server (Seerr) for Discover requests.
Bloom doesn't include any movies or shows. Want to look around first? Choose Explore the Demo on the welcome screen. It runs on your device with sample content.
Getting started
- Open Bloom. At home, Find Servers lists the Jellyfin servers on your Wi-Fi; tap yours. Or choose
Enter Server Address and type it, for example
192.168.1.20ormyserver.localat home (Bloom tries Jellyfin's usual port, 8096) orhttps://media.example.comaway from home. - Sign in with your username and password. Or use Quick Connect: Bloom shows a six-character code, and on another device that's signed in to your server you open Jellyfin, go to your profile › Quick Connect and enter it.
- You're in. Each person on your server can add their own profile the same way.
Common questions
- Bloom can't reach my server.
- Check that the address works in a browser on the same network. On iPhone and iPad, allow Local Network for Bloom in Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network. Away from home, you need an address that works over the internet; use HTTPS for those.
- It says Quick Connect is turned off.
- Sign in with your username and password instead, or ask a server admin to turn it on in Jellyfin's Dashboard › General › Quick Connect.
- A video won't play, or plays without sound.
- In the player, open More › Stats for Nerds, take a screenshot and send it to us. Some formats need your server's help to convert them, which depends on its hardware and settings.
- Where is Live TV?
- Live TV appears when your server has a tuner or IPTV source set up. On iPhone it's the Live TV chip on Home; on iPad and Apple TV it's a tab.
- How do requests work?
- Discover lets you ask your server's admin to add a title. The request goes to their requests server, and they decide what's added to their library.
- How do downloads work?
- On iPhone and iPad, the download button saves a copy from your own server so you can watch offline. You'll find downloads in the Downloads tab. Your server's admin can turn downloading on or off for each account.
- I forgot the parent code.
- A server admin can reset parental controls without the code: Settings › Parental Controls › the profile › Reset. That removes every limit and the code for that profile; then set them up again.
- How do I leave the demo?
- On iPhone and iPad: You › Leave Demo. On Apple TV: Settings › Leave Demo.
